This true-color image from the <a HREF="http://modis.gsfc.nasa.gov" target="outlink">Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer</a> (MODIS) on NASA’s <a HREF="http://terra.nasa.gov" target="outlink">Terra</a> satellite shows fire locations marked with red dots. The image spans southern Bolivia (top), northern Argentina (center and bottom), and Uruguay (bottom right), with the Andes Mountains creating a sharp divide between those countries and Chile, on the Pacific Coast.
